Hello 2012!
Yes, I know it's been forever since I've posted. But, enough with what I have not done and on to what I have done...
New Classes for 2012...
First up is the Smooch Layout.
I will post the link to purchase the class (over on the right side), when I get a final price. (the button is not active right now.)
However, this kit will come with more than enough goodies to do multiple layouts. Think... stickles, paint, twine and a whole Thickers alphabet pack.
The class will be taught on the following dates at Rockin' Reality Retreats:
February 25 • March 3 • April 14
If there are kits left over I will put them up on my etsy site after April 14.
Thanks for looking,
Sabrina

Here is a new Halloween layout for your creative consumption.
I used the new "Haunted" paper by My Mind's Eye and a new glitter/bling alphabet by Making Memories. I just love new product! Found these goodies at CKC San Marcos along with tons of fun stuff. I can't wait to dive into my stacks of new deliciousness I purchased (thank you Jason). But, that's gonna have to wait.
Halloween is near at the Boley house. We love Halloween and all the fun decorations that go along. I will try to post all my creative goodies up as we get closer. (I won't promise anything.) For now, I give you the "Haunted" layout...
The page kit is available for $10. I will be teaching the quick class at Rockin Reality's next retreat. Here is the class link. The awesome thing about this class is that it's only 20 minutes!
I will also be teaching the type tray class again. Here is the link for that. There are only a hand full of kits left. So, get yours right now!
If you would like to get one of these kits but can't make the class, email me and I can ship it to you (cost + shipping, of course).

I don't know about you, but I have a hard time with really busy, patterned paper. I think it tends to overwhelm the eyes and take focus off of the photos (which is why we are doing this, right?). A little bit goes a long way. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of it and there are prints out there that are just gorgeous. In fact, I think some deserve to be framed - not glued upon.
I mainly limit myself to strips of it or cutting out designated sections of a page. I rarely (almost never) use it directly behind my photos. However, I threw caution to the wind and grabbed a bunch of patterns. Here's what came of it. I still had to use a little bit of sanity, I mean solid paper. (I'm not totally crazy!)
I really like the results. I have to say, it does help that these photos lend themselves to being paired with bold patterns. Even though the photos are not black and white, there are not a lot of colors distracting you and the negative space provides your eyes the rest they need with all the crazy going on. ~If that makes any sense.~
These photos were taken by my wonderful and talented friend MiChelle Bunte. She is located in the Temple/Belton area. If you are in need of an awesome photographer... she's your gal! If you would like her contact info, email me.

Here is a layout that I finished yesterday. I used the Heidi Swapp alphabet masks, Fancy Pants acrylic heart and Tim Holtz alcohol inks. Super plain, super easy.
To use the masks, just place them on the paper as if they were stickers. I used a small cotton ball and the Tim Holtz Distress ink and rubbed (rather vigorously) around the letters until I thought the ink was dark enough. When finished, just pull the letters off and tada!
For the acrylic heart- I could have left it plain. However, I chose to experiment with the alcohol inks that have been sitting on the shelf for a while. I used the felt square and the daubber otherwise called the Ink applicator. With a couple drops of the "Red Pepper" and "Mushroom" colored ink onto the felt, I dabbed the acrylic until I was satisfied with the look. If you use the Alcohol Blending solution you can always undo or just wipe it off completely. I find that the Blending Solution makes it look more like water droplets.
Tim Holtz has some great demo videos on his website. You can find the Alcohol Inks one here.
